These images were taken in Palm Springs, which for me is a place with a unique quality that I've never found anywhere else in my travels all over the world. Of course it's famous as a hiding place for Hollywood celebrities, but it's actually a totally manufactured oasis with many secrets. Lives here are led behind high walls where the forbidden can be made made available. These images are inspired by Hockney and Magritte. The colors are overly vivid and the situations have a surreal quality, but they are all straight out of reality, with no retouching or manipulation. Sometimes I think we all hunger for a taste of this exquisite decadence.
